Are you looking for a light that enhances your room and adds poetry to your home?  This large Wall Light based on a traditional fan, with it’s delicate open weave pattern not only creates a lacy light pattern but is also a seductive embellishment for your wall (measuring approximately 39cm x 33cm) it will decorate your home with it’s original shape when on or off.

Details

The lamp was designed in our studio by Sara Efia Reddin, based on a traditional woven fan revisited  to make a contemporary wall ornament.

This natural woven wall light  is entirely woven by hand using a traditional basket weaving technic from Bolgatanga, in the north of Ghana. The delicate open weave stripes spread light patterns across walls. The lamp is assembled with care to order in our workshop with a black wall support, twisted cable with plug (that can be hidden if you prefer), certified electrics.

Woven with the grass Veta Vera, which is naturally durable. This beautiful Wall lamp is magnificent next to your bed, in a living room or along a hallway.

Technique

Basket weaving from Bolgatanga is a a traditional African weaving technic. The grass Veta Vera grows locally. The reeds are twisted by hand and small batches are coloured using vegetable or food dyes in cauldrons.

The weaving is tight and smooth. Our lamps are woven by an association of weavers, these weavers have honed their art to make our contemporary shapes.

This lamp is takes around 2 days to weave.

Available in 3 colours : Natural/Midnight (black), Natural/Ginger (terracotta) and Natural/Noisette (earthy brown),

Please note : we recommend, using a LED bulb max. 8w

Please do not forget that this lamp is woven by hand and the slight differences in shape and colour are completely normal. Please also remember that the material is natural and therefore we do not recommend them for use outside or on terraces or hanging in a hot humid room in front of a window. The colours are natural and may fade if hung in direct sunlight.
